Welcome to Vanto — patient recruitment, end to end.

Multilingual outreach

Clinical research is stronger when study populations reflect the people who will use the treatment. Reaching those people means speaking to them in the language they are most comfortable with, through messengers they trust. Multilingual outreach is not a translation task added at the end of a campaign. It is a recruitment strategy in its own right.

Translation is not enough

A literally translated ad can be accurate and still fail. Phrasing that sounds natural in English may feel formal, confusing or even off-putting in another language. Imagery, examples and calls to action that resonate with one community may not resonate with another. That is why effective outreach is adapted: built around how each audience talks about health, research and family decision-making, then reviewed for accuracy and approved by the IRB or ethics committee.

Building a multilingual campaign

Know the audience

Start with who the study needs to reach and where they live, work and seek care. Language preference, health literacy, preferred channels and trusted community organizations all shape the plan.

Keep the journey in one language

If an ad is in Spanish, the landing page, the prescreen, the follow-up call, the reminder messages and, wherever possible, the site visit should be too. Every switch back to English is a point where a candidate can drop out.

Use bilingual people, not just bilingual materials

Bilingual navigators can answer questions, explain what participation involves and build the trust that a form cannot. They also notice when someone needs more time, or wants to involve family in the decision.

Write for health literacy

Plain language helps every reader. Short sentences, clear explanations of what a visit involves and honest descriptions of time commitments make materials easier to understand in any language.

Work with trusted messengers

Pharmacists, primary care physicians, community health organizations and faith and cultural groups are often more trusted than an unfamiliar advertisement. Person-to-person engagement through these relationships can reach communities that are historically underrepresented in research and rarely respond to digital ads alone.

Confirm the site is ready

Before launching outreach in another language, confirm that participating sites can support those participants: translated consent documents, interpreter access, and staff prepared to schedule and communicate in that language. Recruiting people a site cannot serve damages trust.

Measure by language

Track the recruitment funnel separately for each language and audience. Differences in response, qualification or show rates point to where messaging, channels or follow-up need attention.
